What tog rating do I need?
As a rough guide: 1-4.5 tog suits hot summer nights, 7.5-10.5 tog suits spring and autumn, and 13.5 tog suits a cosy winter room. An all-season duvet combines two lighter duvets you can use separately or fastened together for winter.
Wool, feather and down, or synthetic?
Wool offers the best breathability and temperature regulation, and works well if you share a bed with someone who sleeps at a different temperature. Feather and down gives the most luxurious, squashy feel but can run warmer for hot sleepers. Synthetic microfibre is the most affordable and easiest to wash, at the cost of breathability.
Can I machine wash my duvet?

Others, along with some premium wool and down duvets, are not machine washable at all, so always check the care label.
