Best Women's Golf Shorts UK (2026)
Golf shorts come in a wide range of lengths and fits, from Bermuda styles with a 7in inseam to sporty pairs that sit well above the knee, so the right pair depends on how much coverage you want and whether you prefer a tailored or a stretchy athletic cut. This guide compares shorts tested by Golf Monthly, whose women's golf editor Alison Root wrote its guide with contributions from Carly Cummins and Katie Dawkins. Golf Monthly says its testers head out to the course and wear each pair over a number of rounds, in as many different conditions as possible, and that manufacturers cannot pay for a good review. Seven of the nine pairs in its guide are covered here. The source does not rank them, so the badges below describe what each pair does best according to the testers.

Our top pick
adidas Ultimate365 Bermuda Shorts
Best Bermuda length
Golf Monthly's tester really liked the length of these Bermuda shorts, calling the 7in inseam just right. They have a relaxed fit and are made from a lightweight, non-crease fabric that feels easy to wear. A zip fly and button closure give a smart finish, while the elasticated waistband at the back adds extra comfort and a roomier feel. There are two front pockets with a subtle piped detail, two welt pockets at the back and a small slit at each hem. The tester wore them for 18 holes and found them super comfortable the whole way round.

Sportiest fit
Under Armour Drive Golf Shorts
A really sporty, fitted pair that gives a very athletic look. Golf Monthly's tester says the 4-way stretch fabric moulds to the contours of your legs, which will particularly suit women with an athletic build, and that they would look just as good at the gym as on the course. The stretch gives total freedom of movement in the swing and, with the elasticated waistband, a very comfortable fit. They need washing on a cold cycle to avoid shrinkage, but the fabric does not crease, dries quickly and repels water if you get caught in a shower.

Best tailored short
Ping Verity II Shorts
Golf Monthly's tester calls these longer, Bermuda-length (21cm) shorts beautiful. They are tailored with a slim leg, and the 4-way stretch knit fabric moves with you and resists creasing, making them suited to long journeys to matches or flights. The material feels soft and cool, and a chrome Ping button and logo tag add class. There are four deep pockets plus a subtle zip pocket on the front right for a locker or car key. Sizing was the sticking point: the tester found the 8 extremely small while the 10 felt more like a 12.

Best high-waisted short
G/FORE Shadow Stretch High Waisted Short
Golf Monthly's tester notes that shorts are getting shorter this season, and while these are not the shortest out there, the 4.5in inseam gives a modern, sporty look. They sit beautifully on the waist and fasten with a double hook and bar above the zip fly, adding to the tailored feel. The fabric feels luxurious with just the right amount of stretch, and the A-line shape is super flattering and does not cling. There are two slant pockets at the front and two welt pockets at the back, and a seam down the front of each leg gives a sharp finish.

Best pleated style
Original Penguin Women's High Waisted Color Block Shorts
Golf Monthly's tester describes these as a beautiful shape, almost culotte style, with a pleated cut that is very feminine. The wide elastic waistband is very comfortable and, because the shorts are high waisted, they fit perfectly. The length is short but modest, and the tester says they would suit tennis or lunch out with heels. The drawback is the single colourway: the tester found the white a step too see-through for her, though she thinks certain skin tones will not struggle with this.

- Pockets
- Deep pockets, including a rear right pocket
- Sizes
- XS-XL

- Fabric
- Polyester and recycled polyester blend

Best for hot weather
Galvin Green Petra Breathable Golf Shorts
A classic pair that Golf Monthly's tester calls a real wardrobe essential, with the navy likely to be popular with golfers who play in teams. The fabric is incredibly lightweight to the touch, with a delicate sheen and soft finish that makes it really comfortable. The tailoring is generous enough for all leg shapes and sizes, and a little stretch gives freedom in the swing and stops the shorts riding up over 18 holes. Two deep front pockets and double rear pockets give plenty of tee storage, and there are belt loops if you like to tuck your shirt in.

Best shorter short
FootJoy Women's Shorts
Golf Monthly's tester says these are fast becoming her favourite pair of shorts. They are on the shorter side but beautifully structured and practical, with back pockets that suit a phone or scorecard. They come in a blue and a pink as well as the basic colours, six in total, which makes them easy to coordinate, and the belt loops, something many brands leave out, let you add a belt for a smarter look. The shape is flattering and classic, and the tester plans to wear her navy pair out with heels.

Buying guide
What should I look for in women's golf shorts?
Golf Monthly lists five things: size, colour, mobility, breathability and protection from the elements. Pick a size that looks good and is not too loose but still gives a full range of movement, and look for stretchy fabric that expands as you swing. Breathable fabric matters most in warm weather, and water-resistant or UV-protecting shorts help when conditions change. Among the pairs here, the Under Armour Drive repels water and the Galvin Green Petra has built-in sun protection.
How long should golf shorts be?
Golf Monthly says they do not have to be long: some come down below the knee, but most golf shorts finish above it, which gives more mobility for walking the course. The testers flag length pair by pair. The adidas Ultimate365 Bermuda has a 7in inseam and the Ping Verity II is a Bermuda length at 21cm, while the G/FORE Shadow Stretch has a 4.5in inseam and the FootJoy pair is on the shorter side.
Can you wear shorts on the golf course?
Usually, yes. Golf Monthly says it depends on the club and the tournament: most clubs and events have no issue with players wearing shorts, but some more traditional ones require trousers. It is worth checking the dress code before you play somewhere new.
Do women's golf shorts run true to size?
Not always, so it is worth trying them on. Golf Monthly's tester found the Ping Verity II tricky, with the size 8 extremely small and the 10 feeling more like a 12. The Under Armour Drive is a clingy stretch fit that suits an athletic build and needs a cold wash to avoid shrinkage, while the Galvin Green Petra is cut generously enough for all leg shapes. The adidas Ultimate365 Bermuda has a relaxed fit with an elasticated back waistband for a roomier feel.
