Best Cribs and Bedside Co-Sleepers UK (2026)

Picks reviewed September 2026 · Sources verified November 2026

A bedside crib attaches to your bed so a newborn sleeps close by, safely, without bed-sharing. This guide is based on Mumsnet's tested roundup (updated June 2026), where a panel of verified parent-testers used each crib in real life with their own babies over several months, scoring safety, durability, standout features and value. Mumsnet also consulted baby sleep expert Mandy Gurney of Millpond Sleep Clinic. Prices shown are RRPs quoted by Mumsnet. Current safe sleep guidance from the Lullaby Trust says babies under six months should sleep in the same room as a parent, ideally in their own sleep space.

Our top pick

Chicco Next2Me Magic Evo

Best overall

Mumsnet's Best Buy. Tester Anna found it easy to get her newborn son in and out and felt he was really safe in it, valuing the closeness of co-sleeping without bed-sharing. A re-test with new mum Amy scored it a full five stars: 'the sliding front is really nice and gives lots of confidence for safe sleeping.' It's roomier than a Moses basket with a one-handed drop side. It can't be rocked in co-sleeper mode, is fairly heavy for a travel cot, and Anna found the instructions a bit confusing to assemble.

  • Four tilt options and a rocking mechanism
  • More spacious than other bedside cribs
  • Mesh covers for airflow, removable covers for cleaning

Best for design

Silver Cross Lunar Bedside Crib

Mumsnet's tester Kayla called it beautifully designed, sleek and attractive, and was impressed by the incline adjustment, useful for reflux. She found it easy to assemble and disassemble, unlike the Chicco Next2Me Magic she also tested, and liked that the travel bag means it doubles as a travel cot. It's quite large, which may not suit smaller bedrooms, the drop panel is a little tricky to use, and it doesn't rock.

Best budget

Kinderkraft Neste UP2

Mumsnet found it really lightweight, so it can be carried room to room or tilted onto its base and wheeled, useful for daytime naps without buying a separate Moses basket. It fits snugly next to the bed with straps to hold it in place, has a recline setting for reflux, and comes with a carry bag, mattress and sheet included. The retractable side is a bit fiddly to lower, though usually only needed when already open at night.

Best parent-friendly features

Chicco Next2Me Armonia Bedside Crib

Mumsnet's tester Nino called it well designed, comfortable and premium-looking, an improvement on a previous Next2Me he'd used, and praised how easy it was to move between rooms. The rocking feature makes it move easily to the touch, which he found a little unnerving at first if you'd prefer a crib that stays still. Batteries for the nightlight aren't included.

Best removable carry cot

Snüz Snüzpod 5 Bedside Crib

Mumsnet found the latest model of a crib Mumsnetters really love: like a Moses basket, the sleeping basket lifts out of the sturdy wooden base so your baby can nap anywhere in the house, and it easily detaches from the bed to become a standalone crib. Six height settings and an incline option help with reflux, and mesh side panels add breathability for summer-born babies. Rocking the crib is awkward from bed.

Best for longevity

BabyBjörn Baby Crib

Mumsnet's tester Kate found the mesh breathability and sturdy design exceptionally reassuring over several weeks of testing, and her baby 'slept very well' from day one; her two-year-old also fit on the lower setting. Unlike most bedside cribs, it converts from newborn bassinet to a larger crib for toddlers. It's expensive for what you get: no drop-down side, rocking mechanism, reflux incline or storage pockets, and Kate felt you're paying for the brand and look rather than practicality.

Most stylish

Ickle Bubba Bubba&Me Luxe Bedside Crib

Mumsnet's tester Sarah found it very stylish, sturdy and easy to assemble, and her baby settled in it right away. She noted her larger baby might grow out of it sooner than the stated six months or 9kg if he moves his arms a lot and hits the sides. It's not really designed for travel or regular moves between homes.

Buying guide

How many height settings do I need?

More settings make it easier to match an unusual bed height. The Chicco Next2Me models and the Armonia offer 11, while the BabyBjörn has just two, which its tester felt limited the practicality for the price. Measure your own bed and mattress height before choosing.

Is a rocking crib worth it?

It's a matter of preference. Mumsnet's testers found the rocking Chicco Armonia and Ickle Bubba soothing, though one tester found the Armonia's movement a little unnerving at first. Non-rocking cribs like the Silver Cross Lunar and BabyBjörn feel more static if you'd rather it stayed still.

Which crib doubles as a travel cot?

The Chicco Next2Me Magic Evo, Silver Cross Lunar, Kinderkraft Neste UP2, Chicco Armonia and Snüzpod all come with a travel bag. The Snüzpod's lift-out basket is especially handy for carrying a napping baby between rooms.

How long will a bedside crib last?

Most bedside cribs are outgrown by six months or 9kg, as with the Silver Cross, Ickle Bubba and Chicco models here. The BabyBjörn is the exception, converting to a standalone crib usable to around age two, though its tester noted you pay a premium for that longevity.
