Best Dog Paw Cleaners UK (2026)
A paw cleaner cup lets you dunk a muddy paw in water, twist it against soft silicone bristles and dry it before your dog reaches the sofa. The Dexas MudBuster made the idea popular and plenty of brands now sell a version. Unlike most of our guides, this one is not built on a hands-on comparison test, because we couldn't find one from a UK publication. What we could find is one proper Which? test of a single cup, a Smart Bark test of a paws-only bottle attachment, and a set of pet-site roundups that keep coming back to the same few products.
We have not hands-on tested these products. Our picks are based on published independent tests and reviews, listed at the bottom of this page. How we pick.
About this guide: We found no hands-on comparison of paw cleaners from a UK publication. Two picks rest on real tests: the Tinioey (Which?, one product, tested on a husky in February 2026) and the Kurgo (Smart Bark, a bottle attachment that suits paws only). The MudBuster and Paw Plunger are here because several pet-site roundups and owner reports rate them, not because anyone has put them head to head, and most of those sources are US-based. Treat them as well-regarded rather than proven. We left out two other roundup favourites, the CHOOSEEN and PUPMATE, because we couldn't find either on Amazon UK on 7 October 2026, and the Paw Plunger showed only one Large with a single unit left. Check the current price and stock before you buy.
Our top pick
Tinioey Dog Paw Cleaner
Tested by Which?
Which? senior consumer writer Tom Morgan tested the Tinioey on his husky, Luna, after a deliberately boggy two-mile forest walk (3 February 2026). Two to three minutes of twisting got the marks off the tops of her paws and the darker spots between her pads, and loosened grime under her nails, which he hadn't expected. He noticed less dirt being tracked through the house and called it more effective than a towel alone. The drawbacks were small: he tipped it over on first use, the towels are thin, and the enclosed design may not suit nervous or fidgety dogs.
- Cleaned the tops of the paws, between the pads and under the nails in Which?'s test
- Easy to use, about 2 to 3 minutes per set of paws
- Sold on Amazon UK with 1.8K ratings averaging 4.3 stars

Top pick in most roundups
Dexas MudBuster
Canine Journal, Vetstreet and PetMag all name the MudBuster their best overall, and K9 of Mine makes it its first pick, saying most owners who tried it were very happy. Canine Journal's co-founder says she uses it at home on rainy, muddy days and that it does a great job of removing red clay from her dogs' paws. That's a set of roundups and one owner's account, not a controlled test, and we found no hands-on UK comparison that includes it.

Best for travel (Rover) and best overall (Dogster)
Paw Plunger
Dogster's best overall pick, praised for its easy-carry handle, soft but effective bristles, an enclosed lid that keeps the mess in and for working well with skittish dogs. Rover names it best for travel, since you can pre-fill it, snap the lid on and tuck it in the car. Canine Journal ranks it runner-up to the MudBuster and PetMag calls it its best premium pick. The one drawback Dogster found is that it's big and bulky. None of this comes from a controlled test, and our sources are mostly US sites, so check UK availability.
- Type
- Cup with soft bristles, handle and lid
- Sizes
- Petite, medium, large (cups 3.5 x 4, 5.75 x 6.25 and 6.5 x 9.6in)

Pros

- Lid lets you pre-fill it and keep it in the car

- Big and bulky, per Dogster
- On Amazon UK on 7 October 2026 we found only a Large in black, with one left in stock, so the Check price button may show similar cups instead
Tested by Smart Bark, paws only
Kurgo Mud Dog Portable Shower
Smart Bark bought and tested this alongside three portable dog showers and was a bit underwhelmed. It runs for only one to two minutes from a 2 litre bottle, has no pressurising so you squeeze the bottle, and has no brush to shift dried mud. Smart Bark's conclusion is that it suits rinsing muddy paws rather than a whole dog, and its big advantage is that you can pack it in a walking bag and use it anywhere. It scored 3 out of 5.
- Type
- Bottle-top shower head
- Sizes
- One size, fits bottles from 16oz to 2 litres
- Evidence
- Hands-on test by Smart Bark, scored 3/5
- Price guide
- £11.99 on Amazon UK (7 October 2026), where it is listed as the Mud Dog Travel Shower. Smart Bark quoted about £15
Pros
- Easy to transport and convenient on a walk
- Works with an ordinary plastic bottle
- Cheap
Cons
- Only one to two minutes of water from a 2 litre bottle
- No brush to dislodge dried mud
- No pressurising, so flow depends on squeezing the bottle
Buying guide
How does a paw cleaner cup work?
You fill the cup with water, place your dog's paw inside and twist, so soft silicone bristles loosen the dirt, then dry the paw with a towel. In Which?'s test of the Tinioey, the bristles dealt with dirt on the tops of the paws, between the pads and, to the tester's surprise, under the nails.
Is it better than just using a towel?
Which?'s tester found it more effective than relying on a towel alone, and said it left less dirt tracked through the house, saving him reaching for the steam mop. It does add a step and some water, so it suits dogs that come back properly muddy more than ones that just need a quick wipe.
Will my dog put up with it?
It depends on the dog. Which? warns the enclosed design may feel restrictive to nervous or fidgety dogs, and noted that a tense dog may stiffen its leg at first, so give it a moment to relax before trying again. Dogster, by contrast, found the Paw Plunger works well with skittish dogs. Keep the water free of soap if your dog tries to drink from the cup, as Luna did.
Which size should I buy?
Measure your dog's widest paw and choose a cup whose opening is wider than that. The clearest guide we found is a UK retailer's for the MudBuster: petite takes paws up to 2in wide, medium up to 2.5in and large up to 3.5in. On Amazon UK the Tinioey comes in small, medium and large, and Rover says its mini suits paws two inches wide and under. The Paw Plunger comes in petite, medium and large. Dogster's customer reports flag cups that don't fit every breed size, so check the size guide before you buy.
Is there an extra large paw cleaner?
None of the picks here is sold as an X-Large. The biggest MudBuster is the Large, with an opening for paws up to 3.5in wide, which its UK retailer says suits large and extra-large dogs, and it was £23.35 to £23.45 on Amazon UK on 7 October 2026. The Tinioey is sold as a small, medium and large, and Which? tested the large on a husky. Rover and Dogster recommend a CHOOSEEN in X-Large, but we couldn't find it on Amazon UK, so we left it out. Amazon UK also lists Kabetig cups labelled Large/Extra Large at around £25 to £26, but we found no test or independent review of them. For a giant breed, measure the widest paw first.
Why is this guide not based on a test of all of them?
Because we couldn't find one from a UK publication. Which? has tested one cup and Smart Bark has tested one bottle attachment, but most paw cleaner roundups are US-based and rely on owner reviews. We've said which picks are tested and which aren't, and we'll update this guide if Which? or another UK outlet publishes a head-to-head test.
