Best Changing Bags UK (2026)
A changing bag has to carry everything you need and still be comfortable to wear day after day. This guide is based on Mumsnet's tested roundup (updated September 2026), where verified parent-testers used each bag as their main changing bag, for up to two children at a time, over several weeks, assessing storage, useful pockets, and how easy it was to carry and fit onto buggy handles. Only bags with a named tester's hands-on review are included here; Mumsnet's full page also lists forum-recommended bags without a dedicated test. Prices shown are those quoted by Mumsnet at time of writing.

Our top pick
Babymel Finn Changing Backpack
Best overall
Mumsnet's Best Buy. A mum of two used it regularly for nursery runs, shopping trips, holidays and days out, and both she and her partner found it lightweight compared with larger changing bags. She liked that it wasn't overloaded with compartments, calling it 'just enough for what we need as mums', and it held up with no visible wear after eight weeks. It's less spacious than some larger bags like the Storksak Alyssa and can feel full when packed.
- Lightweight and comfortable to carry
- Slim design with enough space for two children
- Handy easy-access wipes pocket, easy to clean

Storksak Alyssa Changing Bag
Mumsnet's tester used it daily with her six-month-old and nearly three-year-old, and was most impressed by the storage: the main compartment easily held nappies, wipes, snacks, drinks, spare outfits and muslins for both children, without feeling overcomplicated. She mostly used the shoulder strap but liked the option to switch to a backpack, and after two months of daily use it still looked as good as new. It has a high price tag and limited internal organisation.

Ickle Bubba Stomp Luxe Changing Rucksack & Mat
Mumsnet's tester Holly used it for a month with her eight-month-old son and was impressed by the storage, with room for nappies, toys, snacks, spare clothes and more, and a little space left for small purchases. The padded straps were comfortable and the water-resistant exterior coped with light rain. It took a little time to learn where everything was best kept, the structured design won't suit everyone, and it isn't machine washable.

Best large
Elodie Changing Bag
Mumsnet's tester Bethan found it huge, with side compartments for keys but noted that items in the main bag can get lost in its vastness. She scored it highly for longevity, pointing out she could reuse it as an overnight bag or flight bag once nappies are done. It has a distinctive floral print, a thermo-pocket to keep bottles warm and buggy handlebar straps. It's pricey and the velcro straps could be stronger.

- Material
- Polyester

Pros
- Large size
- Doesn't look like a changing bag, so useful afterwards
- Includes a thermo pocket for baby bottles
Cons
- Quite pricey
- Smaller items can get lost inside due to the size
- Velcro straps could be stronger
Best changing clutch
Bugaboo Changing Clutch
Mumsnet's tester Alex found this compact clutch, smaller than an A4 envelope, still fits five nappies, a full pack of wipes, nappy rash cream, nappy bags and even a spare babygrow. She said it's easy to grab instead of a whole backpack while still having everything you need. The detachable changing mat means the bag doubles as a wash bag later. It doesn't have the bottle holders and extra pockets of a full changing bag, and comes in only one colour.

Buying guide
Backpack, shoulder bag or clutch?
A backpack like the Babymel Finn or Ickle Bubba Stomp Luxe spreads weight across both shoulders, useful if you're also carrying a baby. A convertible bag like the Storksak Alyssa gives you the choice. A clutch like the Bugaboo suits parents who already use their own handbag or backpack and just want the nappy-changing essentials in one place.
How much storage do I actually need?
If you have one child, a slim bag like the Babymel Finn or a clutch like the Bugaboo may be enough. For two children or frequent long days out, a more spacious bag like the Storksak Alyssa or the extra-large Elodie gives more room, though Mumsnet's tester found smaller items can get lost in the Elodie's size.
Is a structured or simple layout better?
A structured bag like the Ickle Bubba Stomp Luxe keeps everything in a dedicated place once you learn the layout, which suits organised parents. A simpler bag like the Babymel Finn is easier to grasp immediately but has fewer specific compartments.
Will I use it after nappies are done?
Several of these are designed to outlast the baby years. The Storksak Alyssa is built to work as a stylish everyday backpack afterwards, and Mumsnet's tester expects to reuse the large Elodie bag as an overnight or flight bag once her child is out of nappies.
