Buying guide
OLED, QLED or Mini LED?
OLED gives perfect blacks and contrast since each pixel lights independently, but can be less bright in very sunny rooms. QLED and Mini LED use a backlight and tend to get brighter, which suits rooms with more ambient light, though blacks are usually not quite as deep as OLED.
What TV features matter most for gaming?
Low input lag (ideally under 15ms) and a high refresh rate (120Hz or above) make the biggest difference for responsive gaming. HDMI 2.1 ports are needed to get 4K at 120Hz from a current-generation games console.
Do I need an 8K TV?
Very little content is broadcast or streamed in native 8K today, so the main benefit is upscaling lower-resolution content. Most buyers get better value from a strong 4K TV, and 8K is worth it mainly if you want to future-proof a large screen.
How many HDMI 2.1 ports do I need?
If you have a current-generation games console and want full 4K/120Hz gaming, look for at least two HDMI 2.1 ports so you can connect a console and a soundbar or second device without losing performance.
